Seven Hills Student Athletes Commit to Colleges

Five seniors will play at the collegiate level in the 2020-21 school year

CINCINNATI, Ohio - In honor of Signing Day, the Seven Hills School Athletic Department is proud to announce that five senior student-athletes signed letters of intent to compete at their respective colleges and universities this fall.

"We are thankful for our student-athletes' contributions to the school as Stingers. They're leaders in their sport and in the classroom, and role models in excellent sportsmanship. We wish them all the best as they head into college and beyond" said Seven Hills Athletic Director Scott Willard. "These accomplishments result from countless hours of training, working with impactful coaches and mentors, playing with fantastic teammates, and receiving tremendous support from their families and friends."

Avani Seshiah, of Indian Hill, has committed to play volleyball at Carnegie Mellon University. Seshiah holds the school record in career kills at 1,219 and career blocks at 222. She earned First Team All-District honors from 2017-2019 and was named the Miami Valley Conference Most Valuable Player in 2018. Coach Michelle Cowherd said, "As a four-year, varsity starter, it has been inspiring to watch Avani grow as a student athlete and as an individual. She is humble, kind, and always keeps things positive. Avani has helped raise the level of play here at Seven Hills and it has been a pleasure to be a part of her journey. I can't wait to see what the future holds for her!"

Annika Alper, of New Richmond, has committed to play tennis at Dickinson College. This past season, Alper earned First Team Miami Valley Conference honors, won Sectionals, and qualified for Districts. Coach Tim Drew said, "Annika showed tremendous improvement through her four years on varsity, moving from second doubles as a freshman all the way up to first singles her senior year. Her hard work, determination, and attitude will truly continue to pay dividends at the college level."

Jocelyn Spanbauer, of Anderson, has committed to swim at Tufts University. Spanbauer holds three school records, and earned All Ohio and First Team Miami Valley Conference recognition for three consecutive years. Coach Brandon Williams said, "Jocelyn has always been a leader on the team during her entire high school experience. The team could always count on her to be a strong member of any relay and a contender in her individual races."

Linley Dawson, of Kennedy Heights, has committed to play lacrosse at Transylvania University. Linley earned Second Team Miami Valley Conference honors this past season. Coach Abbey Sir Louis said, "Linley is one of the most versatile players on the team; she can play all over the field. Her dedication and determination never waivers. Linley was always ready to go wherever the team needed her and always gave 100 percent every time. Linley will be a big asset to the Transylvania lax team and I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes at the next level."

Gus Mandel, of Mount Lookout, has committed to play lacrosse at Ohio Northern University. Mandel earned Honorable Mention Miami Valley Conference honors this past season. Coach Josh Wellen said, "Gus is a tenacious defender who always gives his best, on and off the field. His work ethic, enthusiasm, and leadership will certainly be an asset to ONU's lacrosse team next season."
